Project Manager / Business Unit Leader Civil & Materials Testing
Nashville, TN We are seeking an experienced Project Manager / Business Unit Leader to drive growth and oversee operations for a well-established civil and geotechnical engineering firm in Nashville, TN. This role offers the opportunity to lead a team, manage diverse projects, and expand civil, transportation, airport, and construction inspection / testing services in the region. Key Responsibilities
- Lead, manage, and grow the Nashville office, including oversight of field and lab staff (currently 8 CMT professionals).
- Oversee civil engineering, roadway, CMT (Construction Materials Testing), and geotechnical projects.
- Manage budgets, schedules, proposals, and project delivery from start to finish.
- Develop and maintain client relationships to expand business in the Nashville market.
- Provide technical leadership on ASTM, AASHTO, and Tennessee DOT standards.
- Ensure quality project execution, compliance, and client satisfaction.
- Collaborate with leadership and technical experts across other regional offices for support.
Qualifications
BS in Civil Engineering or Construction Management (required).Professional Engineer (PE) license (required).5+ years of experience in civil engineering, transportation, airport projects, and / or materials testing (CMT).Strong knowledge of ASTM, AASHTO, and TDOT requirements.Leadership skills with the ability to manage staff and mentor a growing team.Experience preparing proposals, managing schedules, and delivering projects within budget.Geotechnical or subsurface exploration experience in Tennessee is a plus.Business development mindset with the ability to grow the local client base.Why This Role?
