As a Pipefitter Superintendent, you will work on mechanical piping systems that are installed on large commercial construction projects.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
- Fabricate piping systems for mechanical installations for use on commercial construction projects
- Read blueprints and specification to determine the scope of work including locations, quantities, and material specs.
- Lead small to medium size teams. Work with Sr. Superintendent and Project Manager to create job scheduling and manpower
- Selects type and size of pipe, and related materials and equipment according to specifications
- Cuts, threads, pro press, bends and assembles the pipes.
- Prepare, cut, fabricate, layout, fit, position, and assemble piping components together in various positions.
- Bolt, clamp, and tack-welds parts to secure in position for welding and grooved pipe.
- Install hangers, supports, valves and components according to piping system plans and specifications.
- Perform leak tests to ensure the quality of the pipe and the piping systems.
- Proper identification and use of tools required for tasks (grinders, drills, beveling machine, etc.)
- Operate forklifts and manlifts.
- Hoist loads using slings, chains, shackles, hooks, cables, and other rigging equipment.
- Maintain safe and clean work environment.
- Able to work from ladders and man lifts at various heights
- Perform other related duties or special projects, as assigned.
Education, Training, Licenses and / or Certifications
Must have 4+ years’ experience with pipe fitting processes using piping such as copper, stainless, and steelMust be able to read and understand weld symbols, weld procedures, mechanical and structural drawings.Ability to read and interpret technical manuals to determine work procedures such as ISO’s and blueprintsAbility to read and interpret technical manuals and manufacturers manuals and instructions.OSHA 10 hour preferredAble to work from ladders and man lifts from various heights and operate the equipment as neededAdditional Requirements
Requires basic mechanical aptitude, mathematical and English language skills.Maintain a positive, cooperative, and coachable attitudeInitiative; self-motivated (driven), self-starter.Analytical and problem-solving skills
