Job description

We are seeking a dedicated Young Adult Peer Support Specialist to join our school-based team. In this role, you will provide consistent, strengths-based support to students as they navigate personal, social, and academic challenges. This position is ideal for someone who can build meaningful peer connections, model positive decision-making, and guide students toward their individual goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide daily check-ins and ongoing peer support for students in both individual and group settings
  • Engage students in meaningful conversations around their goals, strengths, and areas of growth
  • Facilitate structured sessions on key topics including :

Healthy relationships

  • Vaping and cannabis education
  • Conflict resolution
  • Life and social skills
  • Financial literacy
  • College and career readiness
  • Collaborate with school staff, families, and community partners to ensure coordinated student support
  • Participate in meetings related to student care (IEPs, family support meetings, internal team huddles, etc.)
  • Support students in identifying needs and accessing appropriate resources
  • Maintain accurate documentation of student interactions and ensure appropriate information-sharing with referrals and stakeholders
  • Coordinate transportation and outbound referrals as needed
  • Qualifications

  • High school diploma required; bachelor's degree preferred
  • 2-3 years of experience in youth services, behavioral health, education, or related fields preferred
  • Ability to pass state and federal background checks and fingerprinting
  • Eligibility to obtain CPRS or CPRS-F credential within 12 months of hire (support provided)
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel)
  • Valid Maryland driver's license with a clean driving record
  • CPR, AED, and NARCAN training (or willingness to complete upon hire)
  • Ability to work effectively within school settings and with diverse student populations
