We are seeking a dedicated Young Adult Peer Support Specialist to join our school-based team. In this role, you will provide consistent, strengths-based support to students as they navigate personal, social, and academic challenges. This position is ideal for someone who can build meaningful peer connections, model positive decision-making, and guide students toward their individual goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide daily check-ins and ongoing peer support for students in both individual and group settings
- Engage students in meaningful conversations around their goals, strengths, and areas of growth
- Facilitate structured sessions on key topics including :
Healthy relationships
Vaping and cannabis educationConflict resolutionLife and social skillsFinancial literacyCollege and career readinessCollaborate with school staff, families, and community partners to ensure coordinated student supportParticipate in meetings related to student care (IEPs, family support meetings, internal team huddles, etc.)Support students in identifying needs and accessing appropriate resourcesMaintain accurate documentation of student interactions and ensure appropriate information-sharing with referrals and stakeholdersCoordinate transportation and outbound referrals as neededQualifications
High school diploma required; bachelor's degree preferred2-3 years of experience in youth services, behavioral health, education, or related fields preferredAbility to pass state and federal background checks and fingerprintingEligibility to obtain CPRS or CPRS-F credential within 12 months of hire (support provided)Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbalProficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel)Valid Maryland driver's license with a clean driving recordCPR, AED, and NARCAN training (or willingness to complete upon hire)Ability to work effectively within school settings and with diverse student populationsWhy Join Us?
