Senior Engineering Estimator

Summary / Objective

The Senior Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate project estimates and schedules for civil construction projects ranging from $2M to $40M, analyzing contract requirements, and guiding junior estimators. Requires expertise in heavy highway, earthwork, bridge, and utility construction.

Essential Functions

• Analyze bid documents and construction plans.
• Perform quantity takeoffs from project drawings.
• Determine project scope and required disciplines.
• Identify subcontractor roles and DBE participation to achieve project objectives.
• Highlight constructability challenges and value engineering possibilities.
• Manage pre-bid activities and respond to owner inquiries.
• Develop and review project estimates and schedules ($2M-$40M).
• Mentor and supervise junior estimators.
• Prepare and submit comprehensive bid packages.
• Required Education and Experience
• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in a construction-related field (preferred).
• 4-10 years of experience in civil construction estimating.
• Knowledge of Department of Transportation specifications.
• Proficiency with HeavyBid or similar estimating software.
