Division Overview - Transplant Hepatology at MCW :
The Transplant Hepatologists at the Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW) are part of the Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology and work extremely collaboratively with the surgical team from the Division of Transplant Surgery. The transplant hepatology practice is a dynamic and rapidly growing program recognized for its collaborative, patient-centered approach and commitment to clinical excellence. In partnership with Froedtert Hospital, the division plays a central role in Southeast Wisconsin's leading liver transplant program, with steadily increasing transplant volumes and outstanding outcomes. The multidisciplinary team includes experienced hepatologists, transplant surgeons, advanced practice providers, and dedicated support staff who work together to deliver comprehensive care across the continuum-from pre-transplant evaluation to long-term post-transplant management. The division benefits from strong institutional support, a new state-of-the-art Digestive Disease Center, and close collaboration with its GI colleagues as well as support from not only surgery and critical care teams, but also from a myriad of other services. A dedicated transplant ICU facilitates rapid access for critically ill patients and provides comprehensive state-of-the-art care. With access to a robust patient population, academic resources, and opportunities for teaching and leadership, the division offers an exceptional environment for a medical director to make a meaningful and lasting impact.
Froedtert and Medical College of Wisconsin Transplant Service Line : The Transplant Service Line is a joint program of Froedtert Hospital, the academic medical center of the Froedtert Health Network and Medical College of Wisconsin, with vital support by Versiti Blood Center of Wisconsin for tissue typing & research initiatives. The Service Line encompasses transplant programs in liver, kidney, pancreas, heart, and lung. Representing the most comprehensive pediatric and adult transplant care in Wisconsin and the region, the service line is recognized for nationally ranked outcomes, internationally known medical and surgical transplant specialists, and end-stage disease management, innovation, and ground-breaking research.
