A well-established organization in Hartford is seeking a strategic and hands-on Accounting Manager to oversee its core financial operations. Reporting directly to the VP of Finance, you'll lead a team of five and play a key role in driving accuracy, compliance, and continuous improvement across all accounting functions. This is a high-impact leadership role with visibility across departments and direct influence on organizational success.

What You'll Do :

• Manage daily accounting operations including payroll, AP / AR, general ledger, and financial close cycles
• Develop and enforce accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls
• Oversee payroll processing and timekeeping systems, ensuring full compliance with regulations
• Serve as the primary liaison with payroll vendors, including wage garnishment coordination
• Review and approve cost allocations, depreciation schedules, and accrual entries
• Prepare and reconcile payroll journal entries using third-party provider data
• Stay current on payroll laws and ensure timely updates to practices and systems
• Deliver financial insights and reporting to senior leadership to support strategic decisions
• Hire, train, and mentor accounting staff, fostering a collaborative and high-performing team
• Continuously evaluate and improve accounting systems and workflows for efficiency and accuracy

Pay and Benefits :

The pay range for this position is $29.67 - $35.16 / hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
