JOB OVERVIEW :

  • Job Title : Gastroenterologist.
  • Job Type : Locum Tenens.
  • Location : Lewisburg, PA.
  • Service Setting : Acute Care Hospital.
  • Coverage Type : Clinical + Call.
  • Coverage Period : 11 / 03 / 2025 – 26 weeks.
  • Clinical Shift Schedule : Mon – Thu 8 : 00a – 5 : 00p, Fri 8 : 00a – 12 : 00p (clinic).
  • On-Call Shift Schedule : 24-hour call, 7-day blocks (Mon–Mon or Fri–Fri).
  • Call Type : In-House and Beeper.
  • Call Ratio : 7 days / month including weekends.
  • Call Response Time : Within facility guidelines.

COVERAGE DATES :

  • November 24, 2025 (7a) – November 29, 2025 (7a).
  • December 23, 2025 (5p) – January 5, 2026 (7a).
  • Ongoing : 7 days per month.

    • PATIENT INFORMATION :

  • Patient Demographics : Adults and geriatrics.
  • Patient Volume / Census : Varies.
  • Admissions : Yes.
  • Rounding : Included.
  • Phone Consults : Yes.
  • Case Mix : General gastroenterology including colonoscopies, EGDs, flex sigmoidoscopies (no ERCP / EUS).

    • FACILITY INFORMATION :

  • EMR System : Epic (Endo documentation : Lumens).
  • Office Equipment Available : Standard gastroenterology suite and ambulatory center.
  • Specialty Backup Available : Medical Director and gastroenterology team.
  • Support Staff Available : LPNs, MOAs, surgery schedulers, office supervisor.
  • Reason for Coverage : Ongoing locum coverage.

    • PRIVILEGES & COMPLIANCE :

  • Hospital Privileges Required : Yes.
  • Temporary Privileges Available : Not specified.
  • Credentialing Timeline : 60–90 days.
  • Compliance Requirements : Child abuse clearance, Pennsylvania state police background check, FBI criminal history check.

    • COMPENSATION & BENEFITS :

    Travel, Lodging, and Malpractice Insurance : Billable.

    REQUIRED PROCEDURES :

  • Colonoscopy.
  • EGD (esophagogastroduodenoscopy).
  • Flexible sigmoidoscopy.
  • Inpatient rounding and consults.
  • Outpatient gastroenterology clinic visits.

    • JOB REQUIREMENTS :

  • Licenses : Active Pennsylvania license required.
  • Board : Board Certified in Gastroenterology.
  • DEA : Required (Pennsylvania).
  • Certifications : BLS, ACLS.
  • Experience : Preferred prior Epic EMR use.
  • Other Qualifications : Clean malpractice history, background checks required.

    • DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Provide 24-hour call coverage including inpatient, outpatient, and clinic care.
  • Perform standard gastroenterology procedures in hospital and ambulatory settings.
  • Conduct inpatient consults, rounding, and follow-up visits.
  • See outpatients in the office and provide continuity of care.
  • Document all procedures and patient encounters accurately in Epic EMR.
