About The Position

Must-Have : Ability to interpret cardiac strips and titrate drips

Description :

Unit has 28 private beds.

Ratios are 1 : 4-5, increasing to 1 : 6 for lower acuity.

Electronic Medical Records are managed using Cerner and EPIC.

Day charge nurse has no assignments, while the night charge nurse may have an assignment.

Two nurse aides are available per shift during the day and mid-shift, with no CNAs on duty after 11 PM.

Weekend requirements include working every other weekend and some holidays.

All scrubs must be navy blue, with navy blue jackets if worn.

Tele monitors are used, and nurses must be able to read and interpret strips.

Nurses will be responsible for titrating drips, including Cardizem, Nitro, Dopamine, Dobutamine, and Heparin, with insulin set-rate only.

Bipap, Cpap, and high flow are used for ventilatory support.

Hospitalists are in-house 24 / 7, with intensivists available during the day and on-call after hours.

There is no IV team, but charge nurses or the director can assist with difficult IV sticks.

Respiratory therapy and pharmacy services are available 24 / 7.

Shifts for RNs are 12 hours, while CNAs work 8-hour shifts.

The director is supportive and communicates effectively with staff.

There may be opportunities for block scheduling.

Floating may occur to assist in the ICU as needed.

Two shifts of orientation will be provided with a preceptor.

Common diagnoses include heavy cardiac cases, dysrhythmias, CVAs, and various other conditions.

Cancellation policy allows for two canceled shifts over the 13-week assignment.

Charting is conducted using the EPIC system.
