First-time travelers will not be accepted. Candidates are required to float to Pediatric Emergency Room as necessary. Basic EKG interpretation test will be assigned during orientation. Critical care nurses will have additional tests based on specific curricula. Emergency Room consists of multiple adult and pediatric beds and chairs for patient care. There are dedicated triage nurses to start the day. Certifications required include BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NIHSS for Adult Emergency Room; PALS preferred for Pediatrics. Experience in ICU settings includes specific patient-to-nurse ratios. Nursing staff includes ER technicians and licensed vocational nurses. Every other weekend and two out of every three holidays are expected for staffing. Flexibility with scheduling is required; no block scheduling available. Nurses may work in either Pediatric or Adult Emergency Room or both. Significant Pediatric Emergency Room experience is necessary. The facility sees approximately 30,000 pediatric patients annually. Staff operates in a team-oriented environment, promoting respectful interactions. Both Emergency Rooms serve various patient needs, from minor cases to critically ill patients. Candidates should have experience with both pediatric and adult patient populations. Cancellation policy allows for specific shifts to be canceled during assignments. Charting system utilized is electronic. Additional nursing roles include specialized positions and dedicated support staff as needed.
