ROLE OVERVIEW and REQUIREMENTS

• The NAT position is a unique position in which an individual who is attending CNA school can perform CNA tasks while attending school.
• The NAT Must be partnered by CNA when working.
• The NAT may only practice patient care after 8 hours of classroom instruction
• The NAT Must provide ADNS or DNS weekly list of the skills they have learned in class and may only perform those tasks when at facility.
• The NAT must then successfully be observed performing the task by their preceptor CNA and LPN or RN charge nurse to be documented as competent.
• The NAT must complete and obtain their Licensure within four months of becoming a Nat they must then test for their certification and once certified may transition to the position of CNA.
• Supervision BY RN / LPN charge Nurse
• Reports to Director of Nursing Services Long Term Care
• Must be able to Lift up to 300lbs, bend, stretch, stand for long periods of time, walk for long periods of time, kneeling, stooping, squatting, etc.

Basic Job Duties

Provides direct and indirect resident care activities under the direction of an RN or LPN / LVN. They have been educated and observed completing for competence by facility LPN / RN and CAN preceptor.

NAT Assists in providing care to residents with activities of daily living, provides for personal care, comfort, and assists in the maintenance of a safe and clean environment for an assigned group or residents.

The NAT must not work alone a CNA preceptor must be present in the facility when the NAT is scheduled to work.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

High school Junior at least 17 years of age at time of CNA program completion

Or High School Graduate

Successful completion of an approved CNA program required within four months of hire
