POSITION DESCRIPTION
The outpatient child, adolescent and family therapist will provide culturally competent mental health services to individuals, couples and families who are experiencing varying levels of difficulties due to life situations or mental health concerns.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provides high quality, compassionate and ethical outpatient mental health therapy to clients as scheduled
- Complete clinical documentation within 72 hours of date of service and maintains case files with electronic health record (EHR) as described in expectations and employee handbook
- Actively participate as a positive member of the clinical environment
- Availability to include 1-2 nights and weekends per week
- Maintains good standing with memberships, boards and insurance entities
- Conduct initial client consultation and secure client information per HIPAA standards
- Promotes client growth by ensuring an understanding of program services available for clients within the community
- Stay current with updated research and best practices, including maintaining professional and technical knowledge by participating in workshops, reviewing professional publications and establishing personal networks
- Complete all recommended continuing education requirements
- Perform other duties as assigned (including, but not limited to completion of forms, authorizations and billing forms, phone calls and participation in consultation and team meetings)
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Computer literate and knowledge of various computer software programs, including electronic health record (EHR)Skill in applying varied interventions and therapeutic techniques and knowledge of community resourcesKnowledge of child development, diagnosis, trauma-informed practices, and family systems and their impact on mental health within the familyAbility to effectively engage clients and families with a client-centered approachAbility to work independently and implement time management strategiesAbility to implement necessary self-careEDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Education Level : Master’s or Doctoral Degree in a mental health-related field
Licensed to independently practice in the State of Missouri and / or Kansas, with the expectation to be credentialed with insurance companies
Certification in Trauma is desirable, but not required
Certification in Play Therapy is desirable
