The Frank Williams Outreach Center, located at 1201 North 7th Street, Kansas City, KS 66101, operates Monday through Friday from 8 : 30 a.m. to 12 : 30 p.m. It serves as a drop-in center for individuals experiencing homelessness in Wyandotte County, offering services such as laundry and shower facilities, telephone and computer access, mail delivery, homeless survival gear, and connections to mental health and housing resources. Job Title : Peer Support Specialist
Location : Frank Williams Outreach Center, Kansas City, KS
Hours : Monday through Friday, 11 : 00 a.m. – 2 : 00 p.m.
Salary : Starting at $20 per hour
Position Summary : The Peer Support Specialist will engage with clients experiencing homelessness, providing support and maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the facility during peak hours. This role does not require certification but relies on personal experience and a commitment to assisting others in their recovery journey.
Key Responsibilities :
- Client Engagement : Welcome clients as they arrive, fostering a supportive and non-judgmental environment.
- Peer Support : Share personal experiences to offer hope and guidance, assisting clients in articulating their goals and developing recovery plans.
- Resource Connection : Inform clients about available services, including housing programs, mental health support, and community resources.
- Facility Maintenance : Ensure common areas are clean and organized, including tidying up after service hours and restocking supplies as needed.
- Crisis Support : Provide immediate support during times of crisis, offering encouragement and connecting clients with appropriate services.
- Advocacy : Assist clients in developing self-advocacy skills and support them in navigating various systems to access necessary services.
