The Veteran and Military Resource Center has an outstanding opportunity for a Counseling Services Coordinator to join their team.
Under the direction of the Director of Veteran and Military Resource Center, the Counseling Services Coordinator will assist the department to support the transition of new military connected students and their families by providing oversight of the PAVE program, support the initiatives of Student Affairs and connect with campus partners.
With an increasing population of military connected college students, providing high-quality orientation services with a guided importance in the way students feel a sense of belonging, customer service and how we support retention and persistence have to begin with the success of new students' successful transition into UW Tacoma.
The new Counseling Services Coordinator will directly affect, through the work with student employees, the transition of new students and their families. They will implement new ideals and structures for the PAVE program to interact directly with students and their families and to gather stakeholder input and feedback to better support them as representatives of UW Tacoma. They will ensure best practices to protect student privacy and evaluate the efficacy of partnerships. Additionally, this position will develop and foster relationships with other UW Tacoma departments. Under the direction of the Director of Veteran and Military Resource Center, they will also support the Student Veterans Organization and The Veterans Incubator for Better Entrepreneurship (VIBE).
The numbers of incoming students has more than doubled since 2006 and student populations are requiring a more diverse set of supports for their transition (, increasing populations from our military-connected students and the local military installations).
