Database Administrator Advanced Software AG Adabas / Natural, Security & Performance Optimization Specialist

Contract Position : Hybrid : Remote after first week; first week onsite in Columbia, SC at candidates expense. 1201 Main Street, Suite 600, Columbia, SC 29201

Required :

  • Minimum 8 years managing Software AG Adabas and Natural.
  • Hands-on experience administering Adabas databases and Natural Security (Software AG stack) in production environments.
  • Working knowledge of CONNX or comparable Adabas data access tools.
  • Proficiency with environment refreshes, backup / restore, performance tuning, and scripting (Natural utilities).
  • Practical experience implementing role-based access control, security reviews, and audit documentation for regulated environments.
  • Familiarity with SDLC / change control across dev / test / prod and maintaining a formal data dictionary.
  • Experience with broader Software AG tools (e.g, NaturalONE, Predict, EntireX) and DDM management best practices.
  • Strong communication skills for writing user guides and supporting analysts and business users.

Preferred Skills

  • Exposure to capacity planning, platform modernization, and performance engineering.
  • Participation in BC / DR program development and exercises.
  • Experience with open systems, particularly Linux (2+ years preferred).

  • Adabas & Natural Security administration (Software AG stack)
  • Backup / restore, performance tuning & scripting (Natural utilities)
  • CONNX or similar Adabas data access tools
  • Role-based access control & security audits
  • SDLC / change control & data dictionary management
  • Software AG tools (NaturalONE, Predict, EntireX)
  • Linux / open systems experience (preferred)
  • BC / DR planning & platform modernization
