Tree Trimmer
Join our team as a Tree Trimmer and put your skills to work maintaining the health and safety of the City's trees. Under general supervision, the Tree Trimmer performs a variety of skilled tree maintenance, such as trimming, removal, and general maintenance of ornamental, shrubbery, and trees, which involves climbing trees of various heights and working from a variety of lifts; corrects hazardous conditions caused by trees on City property, public right-of-way, and easements. The annual salary for this classification is as high as $86,927.76 at the top of the range. The Tree Trimmer performs the full range of tree maintenance duties as assigned and possesses knowledge of tree health, plant diseases, tree trimming techniques, and the safe operation of tree maintenance equipment. Application and Selection Process :
To Apply : Interested individuals must apply online by fully completing the City of Richmond Employment Application, including answers to supplemental questions, by 11 : 59 p.m. PST on the final filing date. Qualifying Phase : All completed applications will be evaluated based on job-related qualifications criteria, which could include desirable qualifications and the specific needs of the hiring department(s). Candidates may be screened for better qualified.
Physical Examination : A limited number of better-qualified candidates will be first invited to a Performance Exam, which may test a candidate's job-related knowledge, ability to follow instructions, and other skills as they pertain to the position. A passing score of 70% or higher is required. (Weighted 50%)
Oral Examination : Only those candidates who achieve a passing score on the performance exam will be invited to participate in an Oral Examination. (Weighted 50%) Placement on the Employment List will be determined by the combined score of the Performance and Oral examinations. Candidates must receive a minimum passing score of 70% in each area to be placed on the list. Meeting the minimum qualification does not guarantee advancement in the process or placement on the Employment List.
Employment Eligibility List : A ranking of "A" (Best Qualified), "B" (Well Qualified), or "C" (Qualified) is required to achieve a position on the Employment Eligibility List. This List will be in effect for a maximum of two (2) years; however, the list may be canceled without notice after six (6) months.
