Job Summary :
To perform diagnostic and theraptic nuclear procedures for the detection and treatment of disease, while ensuring patient safety and comfort. To prepare and administer radiopharmaceuticals to patients and monitor the characteristics and functions of tissues or organs.
Education & Experience
Certifications, Licenses or Registration Required :
Medical Radiologic Technologist license from the Mississippi State Department of Health. Basic Life Support (BLS) from American Heart Association required post-hire within 90 days. Nuclear Medical Technology (N) from American Registry Of Radiologic Technology (ARRT) or Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist (NMTCB) from Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities :
Knowledge of radiopharmacy, nuclear medicine instrumentation, and radiation safety. Skill in the use of personal computers and related software applications. Verbal and written communication skills. Interpersonal skills. Ability to operate scintillation detection and other ancillary equipment. Ability to alleviate patient anxiety. Ability to ensure compliance with workplace safety, environmental, exposure control, and / or infection control practices.

Requires occasional exposure to unpleasant or disagreeable physical environment such as high noise level and exposure to heat and cold, constant handling or working with potentially dangerous equipment, constant exposure to biohazardous conditions such as risk of radiation exposure, blood borne pathogens, fumes or airborne particles, and / or toxic or caustic chemicals which mandate attention to safety considerations, occasional working hours significantly beyond regularly scheduled hours, occasional travelling to offsite locations, occasional activities subject to significant volume changes of a seasonal / clinical nature, frequent work produced subject to precise measures of quantity and quality, constant bending, frequent lifting and carrying more than 100 pounds, frequent crouching / stooping, occasional driving, occasional kneeling, occasional pushing / pulling, frequent reaching, occasional sitting, constant standing, occasional twisting, and frequent walking.
