Description
Under the supervision of the Health Care Services Supervisor and the Nurse Manager, provide direct nursing care to all residents.
Responsibilities :
- Provide professional nursing care to supported persons, following established policies and procedures of the facility.
- Assist Health Care Services Supervisor in care and management of the facility.
- Carry out instructions of Health Care Services Supervisor.
- Maintain approved driving privileges with Babcock Center.
Duties :
Prepare and administer medications as ordered by the physician.Give treatments and perform other professional services as ordered or required.Escort supported persons to medical, dental and other appointments.Act as charge nurse in the absence of the Health Care Services Supervisor.Render first aid services as needed.Administer immunizations as ordered by the physician.Complete medication section of the Leave Authorization Form. Complete entire form as appropriate in the absence of residential staff.Obtain medication when supported person is going on an off-campus visit.Obtain and record weight and blood pressure of each supported person monthly or more frequently as indicated.File all medical records into the unit files.Keep medication administration records current and up-to-date.Provide monthly foot and nail care.Chart all pertinent information including a weekly entry in the supported persons chart.Complete medication receipt procedures after medication is received from the pharmacy.Take and record vital signs as necessary.Keep medication cabinet and nursing area clean.Report discrepancies on all orders, diets, etc., to the Health Care Services Supervisor.Perform other related duties as directed by the Health Care Services Supervisor and / or administrative nursing staff.Qualifications
Completion of and accredited A.D., B.S, 3 years of LPN School of Nursing.Current RN or LPN licensure with the South Carolina State Board of Nursing.Hazards / Potential Hazards :
Aerosolized medication, aggression / violence, biological / infectious hazards, electrical, ergonomic hazards : (i.e. patient handling, lifting, pushing / pulling), hazardous drugs, latex allergy, needle punctures, trip hazards and wet floors.

Typical Physical Demands :
Sitting, bending, stooping, standing, reaching, frequent lifting and manual dexterity sufficient to operate standard office machines. Must have normal range of hearing and vision.
