Responsibilities Work in a Pediatric Cardiovascular ICU within a Level 1 Pediatric Trauma and Teaching Hospital 20-bed unit for patients ages 0-18 with high acuity, including post-surgical, pre- / post-transplant, and cardiac device patients 12-hour night shifts from 7 : 00 PM to 7 : 00 AM, with a schedule typically including every other weekend Travelers must work 75% of holidays and may float to PICU, NICU, or General Pediatrics as needed Patient ratios vary based on acuity, including 1 : 1, 1 : 2, or 2 : 1 assignments Uses Epic EMR (experience required), Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, and Phillips monitors Centralized and bedside patient monitoring in use No on-call or call-back requirements Permanent residence must be at least 50 miles from the home unit Deliver care to complex pediatric cardiac patients and manage advanced cardiac assist devices Work with an interdisciplinary support team including a resource nurse, RTs, cardiologists, intensivists, and unit secretaries No CNA support; 1 health care tech provides limited assistance during the day Orientation includes New Employee Orientation (NEO) and two department training days Navy scrubs are required Parking is free on site First-time travelers are welcome to apply Time-off requests must be manager-approved Unit is known for teamwork, trust, and accountability Requirements Active NC or compact RN license, in hand at time of consideration Current certifications : BLS, PALS, and NIHSS required Minimum 2 years of recent pediatric cardiac ICU experience in a similar high-acuity setting Proficiency with post-operative cardiac patients, transplant patients, ECMO, Impella, dialysis, and Aquadex devices Epic EMR experience required Ability and competency to float to pediatric critical care settings including PICU Benefits High Pay and Bonuses Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options 401(k) Plan Weekly Payroll Deposit Free Online CEUs Generous Housing Allowance Travel and Licensure Reimbursements Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy Traveler Rewards and Discounts American Traveler Job ID P-608790.
