Responsibilities Position is in the Pediatric Cardiovascular ICU (CVICU) of a Level 1 pediatric trauma, teaching hospital Unit has 20 beds divided into two sides with centralized nurses station Serves patients ages 0-18 with congenital heart conditions, post-surgical recovery, transplant, ECMO, Impella, dialysis, and Aquadex Nurse to patient ratio varies by acuity : 2 : 1, 1 : 1, or 1 : 2 Shifts are 12 hours, nights (1900-0700), on a 6-week schedule cycle Weekend rotation required every other weekend or as needed (Fri / Sat / Sun) Travelers are scheduled to work 75% of holidays Floating to PICU, NICU, and General Pediatrics as needed Uses Epic EMR, Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell med dispensing, and Phillips monitors No on-call or call-back requirements Expected to provide specialized care for critically ill pediatric cardiac patients, including those on advanced cardiac support devices Strong multi-disciplinary support including 24 / 7 RT, intensivist, and cardiology coverage, as well as IV / VAT team and health care technician assistance Orientation includes NEO and 2 days of departmental training Must wear navy scrubs Parking is free Team-oriented culture focused on trust and accountability First-time travelers welcome to apply Time off (RTO) must be approved by the manager Must be able to float to other pediatric units as needed Requirements Active NC or Compact RN license required BLS and PALS certifications required; NIHSS required Minimum 2 years recent Pediatric Cardiac ICU experience in a similar acuity facility Experience caring for fresh open heart post-op pediatric patients and pediatric transplant cases required Proficiency operating Aquadex, Impella, ECMO devices required Epic charting experience required Must reside at least 50 miles from the assigned unit Benefits High Pay and Bonuses Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options 401(k) Plan Weekly Payroll Deposit Free Online CEUs Generous Housing Allowance Travel and Licensure Reimbursements Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy Traveler Rewards and Discounts American Traveler Job ID P-608791.
