We’re looking to add a staff accountant to our team at our worldwide headquarters based in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

About the Role :
- As the Staff accountant, you will play a vital role in financial operations.
- Working closely with the Senior Accountant, you will manage the accounts payable process, including vendor management and filing annual 1099 forms.
- General ledger responsibilities for this position include account reconciliation, performing month-end close tasks, and budget preparation.
- Additionally, the staff accountant will manage the bookshop inventory and serve as a backup for the bookshop manager as needed.
Daily Responsibilities :
Accounts Payable – perform and oversee activities including : Process and review daily invoice submissions, coding, and approvals Process and review staff reimbursements and credit card charges Coordinate payments Preparation and annual e-filing of Forms 1099-MISC General Ledger Maintain data integration between accounting system and AP / Expense platforms Assist with annual budget process and quarterly budget meetings Coordinate and monitor month end closing process Acton Book Shop Monitor and reconcile inventory Record monthly cost of goods sold and file monthly / annual sales tax report Assist bookshop manager as needed What You Need : Support the mission of the institute Bachelor’s degree in accounting or similar field 1-3 years of accounting experience, preferably in a non-profit Experience with international payments and vendor management preferred Working knowledge of GAAP and month-end close procedures Proficiency with Excel and accounting software (e.g., Sage Intacct, BILL, Concur, or similar) Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills with excellent attention to detail.Ability to work with all levels of employees and keep financial data confidential What We Offer :
