Position Description

America Votes is seeking a collaborative and strategic Campaigns Director to lead its planning and engagement process of winning progressive change and elections year-round and the development of strategies for electoral and issue priorities across the country.

The Campaigns Director will oversee America Votes' program in the seven battleground states of Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin and electoral priorities across the country. The Campaigns Director will also lead on ensuring America Votes' national programs including voter registration, Get Out The Vote, and election administration are embedded in America Votes' plans to win.

Reporting to the Deputy Executive Director of Campaigns & Programs, the Campaigns Director will play a key role as America Votes expands its work on national electoral and issue priorities that fall outside its current core states.

The Campaigns Director will oversee a team of over forty staff, including four senior-level deputy campaign directors. The Campaigns Director will also closely collaborate with the other Campaigns & Programs Directors, including data and research.

The ideal candidate brings significant experience building winning independent expenditure campaigns in battleground states, trusted relationships with partners in the America Votes' coalition, experience managing teams through change, and a passion for direct voter contact.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead America Votes' infrastructure and program work in AZ, GA, MI, NV, NC, PA, and WI
• Oversee plans and programs in each cycle's electoral top priorities and states including voter registration, Get Out The Vote, canvass, and mail
• Play a key role in America Votes' expansion of its work on electoral and issue priorities that fall outside of its current core states
• Build and maintain thoughtful, trusting relationships with partners, allies and stakeholders across the country
• Oversee a team of over 40 state and national staff
• Play a key role in developing America Votes' strategy for the ongoing engagement and program coordination with national partner organizations
• Advise executive leadership on the cross-state electoral strategy, "plans to win," and program "gap-filling"
• Serve on America Votes' senior leadership team, holding an organizational leadership role and responsibility

Key Qualifications

Location and Travel

This position can be located in Washington, DC or remote; if remote, there is a preference for candidates residing in a state where America Votes currently has state operations. If located in DC, America Votes is currently working on a hybrid schedule, and the Campaigns Director is expected to be in the office several days a week.

The Campaigns Director should expect to travel between 35-40% of their time; if not located in DC, the Director should expect to routinely travel to Washington, DC.

Compensation and Benefits

The salary range for this position is $160,000-$180,000 and depends upon the applicant's experience. America Votes offers a competitive benefits package covering 100% of employee medical, dental, & vision insurance premiums, life insurance, long term disability coverage, monthly cell phone reimbursement, personal professional development funds, parental leave, and 401 (K) after four months of continuous service with the organization. America Votes provides a generous paid time off policy with paid vacation, unlimited sick and safe leave, paid personal days, at least 10 Federal paid holidays including Juneteenth, as well as paid organizational time off from at least December 23 to January 1.
