Job Summary

The Operations Manager is responsible for various operational activities in Customer Operations. These activities vary depending on their assignment but could include : managing the record keeping of electric or gas construction and maintenance activities and providing direct supervision of the electric / gas supervisory staff in the GIS, Asbuilting, and Asset Management area; identifying and implementing strategic direction and best practices in Customer Operations relating to GIS, Asbuilting, and Asset Management including the scheduling of work (internal / external) and the strategic management of the internal and contracted workforce. In all cases the main focus of the Operations Manager is operational safety, customer satisfaction, financial accountability, regulatory responsibility, and resource management.

In addition, the Operations Manager may be called on to perform other roles involved with project management, emergency response, storm restoration response, etc.

Job Responsibilities

• Ensure facility documentation, asbuilting and record keeping processes for our electric and natural gas facilities are completed accurately and timely
• Establish, monitor and manage key business process, metrics and cost controls to achieve operational goals
• Ensure the proper documentation of records to facilitate safe operation of our distribution facilities and maintain prompt response to emergencies
• Provide strategic direction and leadership for the WEC Energy Group Geospatial Governance Team
• Ensure work force is effectively trained so as to develop employee skills as well as meet all legal requirements for training
• Provide direct reports with training and work experience opportunities necessary to ensure personal success
• Monitor and manage workload and schedule to ensure timely work completion
• Develop and implement innovative processes and practices to reduce costs and improve efficiency
• Recommend and implement technology related to GIS, asbuilting, and facility documentation to support business processes and ensure efficient use of resources
• Ensure effective management of related contracts and contractors
• Provide strategic direction for contracted labor resources
• Provide customer support to engineering, expediting, field operations, and construction to achieve departmental and Area goals for on-time service installations, reliability and budgets
• Monitor, manage and control operational budgets to meet budgetary goals of the department and business unit
• Develop and implement staffing plan
• Support and collaborate with the Energy Delivery Program to ensure transformational vision is realized
• Provide leadership during escalated events (storms, outages, other emergency situations)
• Fill leadership roles as necessary
