Composite Technician

Job Summary :

ESAero is seeking a self-motivated Composite Technician to join our team in San Luis Obispo, CA. The composite technician will work with a team of engineers in the fabrication of composites structures. Fabrication includes wet lays and pre-preg with carbon fiber fabrics and resin.

Responsibilities and Duties :

Lay out, assemble, pre-fit and bond carbon composite or laminate fabrications, assemblies, parts, skins or equipment

Cut fabric, hand wet lay-up of carbon fiber material

Use shop math and measuring instruments

Obtain information from prints, charts, sketches, work orders, documents and verbal and electronic information

Follow engineering and manufacturing specifications

Operate curing ovens to complete curing cycles

Sand, burr, smooth, bond and seal

Perform rework or repair

Perform routine minor machine maintenance

Operate ovens to complete bonding cycle

Required Qualifications and Skills :

Minimum 1 year composites fabrication experience

Quick learner, hard-working with skilled hands

Basic knowledge of CAD / CAM or similar tools

Read CAD drawings, engineering sketches communicate challenges to small engineering teams

Excellent work ethic and attendance

Understand process methods and sequences

Understanding of ply orientations and vacuum bagging processes

Able to lift assemblies weighing up to 50 lbs

Must be able to verbally communicate, read and comprehend written and verbal instructions, and be capable of doing basic mathematical calculations

High attention to detail

Perform all tasks in a safe and responsible manner.

Familiarity with windows based personal computers

Must be able to work with a minimum of supervision
