Job description

Title : Speech and Language Pathologist FY2526_6

Reports to : Special Education Director

Status : Part Time / Full Time / Flexible Hours / Flexible Days

Majority of work district / Evaluations

Location : 1 Position Elementrary / 1 Position Middle School-High School

Start Date : August 15, 2025 (School Year 2025 / 2026)

Stipend : $44,263.00 - $51,877.00 DOE & $2,500 Stipend for National Certified Speech & Language

Essential Job Duties

  • Assess students' communication skills (articulation, fluency, voice, expressive & receptive language, etc.) to determine communication disorders, special education eligibility, and recommendations for treatment.
  • Create and provide input to Evaluation Team documentation and Individual Education Programs (IEP).
  • Develop and implement treatment plans, interventions and / or materials for caseload.
  • Provide direct therapy as designated by IEPs.
  • Complete and maintain appropriate files, records, documentation, state, and district reports.
  • Communicate and establish positive relationships with students, staff, parents, and community resources.
  • Recognize and respond to student's personal, educational, and / or social needs.
  • Become familiar with teacher expectations of students and facilitate desirable individual and group performance and behavior.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by Special Education Director or Site Supervisor.

  • Required Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in Speech Language Pathology or Communications Science Disorders.
  • MT Licensure in Speech Language Pathology.
  • Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with effectively with children in an education setting.
  • Knowledge of current instructional materials and techniques.
  • Necessary special requirements :

  • Montana Driver's license or the ability to obtain license within three months of hire date.
  • Physical and Mental Demands and Work Hazards

  • Ability to maintain regular and acceptable attendance levels.
  • Performs routine work.
  • Regularly works inside with minimal temperature variations.
  • Ability to meet deadlines with severe time constraints.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate.
  • Regularly required to sit, regularly walk and stand.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Carrying, pushing, and / or pulling; some climbing and balancing; frequent stooping, kneeling, crouching, and / or crawling.
  • Significant fine finger dexterity.
  • Required to be able to hear conversations in loud and quiet environments.
  • May be required to lift or carry up to 40 pounds on a routine basis with or without an accommodation.
  • Guidance and reinforcement are usually limited.
  • The employee frequently works within time constraints and must maintain attentiveness intensity.
  • Frequently involved in interactions which require oral and written communications.
  • Exercises flexibility and the ability to shift from one task to another.
  • Occasional travel / mobiility between schools, or between schools and the Administration office, may be required.
  • Effective hearing and speech abilities.
  • Work area is generally a hazard free environment.
