The Corporate Strategy Consultant serves as core team member of Corporate Strategy department which bridges all Pinnacle West business units including Arizona Public Service Company and Bright Canyon Energy. The Corporate Strategy team reports to the Chief Financial Officer and drives strategic decision making for the Energy Policy Committee (EPC), the strategy committee of the Company. The Corporate Strategy Consultant is a key contributor in the establishment and implementation of corporate strategy for the Company. Working with the Corporate Strategy team, initiates comprehensive research and perspective contributing to long-range strategic plans and objectives that impact the company's growth and sustainability. Supports all aspects of the strategic plan and its deliverables in association with the EPC through effective interaction with company leadership and the broader organization.
Identifies threats and opportunities to our strategic plan based on external market forces, as well as internal strengths and weaknesses. Supports the integration of external viewpoints and perspectives into strategy evaluation including trends outside the utilities industry that may directly or peripherally impact its long-term development. Serves as a resource for all business units in the business planning, risk / opportunity assessment, and change management processes related to EPC-directed long-term strategic decisions. Facilitates strategic recommendations to business unit leadership, evaluating alternatives for a variety of business cases and scenarios. A key stakeholder in the development, communication, and long-term implementation of the corporate strategy while ensuring its ongoing success through regular management of strategic drivers, signposts, and options.

Major Accountabilities
1) Strategic Options Roadmap : Assumes a key role in the evaluation and implementation of the corporate strategic plan, including coordination of the Strategic Options Roadmap, which comprises leading indicators by internal subject matter experts (SMEs) across the Company.
Leads the strategic review of leading indicators with SMEs on an ongoing basis, identifies when signposts are approaching, and provides strategic updates to the Energy Policy Committee and broader Officer team.
2) Energy Policy Committee : Coordinates all aspects of the Energy Policy Committee (EPC) agenda, including topics presented and sequence based on strategic drivers, as well as all facets of advance preparation including content review and presenter de-briefing / strategic alignment. Documents key positions, decisions, and next steps through formal meeting outcome summaries. Works closely with the Support Technician to ensure meeting logistics are seamless.
3) Corporate Strategic Initiatives : Partners with stakeholders during strategy construction to ensure strategic recommendations / analyses are thoroughly vetted and in alignment with the corporate strategic plan. Provides support to business unit leaders while participating on cross-functional teams to solve problems and create strategic opportunities that translate the relevant unit's significant objectives into actions that support the long-term objectives and direction of the Company.
4) Market Intelligence : Proactively gathers, evaluates and disseminates business intelligence insight, sector events / trends, competitive threats, business environmental factors, and shifts in customer value demands / expectations. Partnering across the enterprise facilitates the translation of strategic decisions and related intelligence findings into business initiatives that support the long-term strategic plan.
5) Monthly Newsletter : Drafts monthly newsletter for the Energy Policy Committee highlighting insights gathered through the Strategic Options Roadmap and Market Intelligence processes.
6) Corporate Strategic Plan : Contributes to the design, development, and delivery of the Corporate Strategic Plan. Partners with each business unit as well as the Communications and Finance Business Operations organizations to deliver a comprehensive product to the Energy Policy Committee for review and enterprise-wide distribution in the first quarter of each year. Researches and evaluates best practices from other companies in the sector, as well as other industries, to develop a straightforward, relevant and impactful product.
7) General : In partnership with the Corporate Strategy team, drives action items from Energy Policy Committee and related strategic discussions, both independently and in partnership with other business units. Activities include, but are not limited to, comprehensive data collection and analysis, execution of complex analytical frameworks, report writing and dissemination, project / initiative tracking, and communication of key findings.
