About The Position

We are seeking a Family Practice Physician for a 100-day locum tenens assignment in Colorado starting Nov 24, 2025. This position offers a standard schedule of 8-hour day shifts, Monday through Friday, and involves providing comprehensive medical services in a correctional facility setting.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Provide a variety of professional medical services to inmates and residents, including examinations, diagnosis, treatment, medication prescription, and follow-up care
  • Offer direction and leadership for the medical program in collaboration with the Health Services Supervisor
  • Monitor and review standards of care and operations for inmates and residents
  • Interview and assess admissions for inmates and residents
  • Conduct clinical rounds and participate in treatment team meetings for individualized health plans
  • Direct unit treatment operations and perform minor and occasional major surgeries as needed
  • Hold clinics for nursing specialists, assist with diagnoses, treatment, prescriptions, and protocols
  • Maintain strong working relationships with facility staff, contract providers, and outside agencies
  • Apply established policies and sound independent judgment in all responsibilities
  • Assist in the development of facility medical policies and motivate staff adherence to procedures
  • Evaluate medical services regularly to prevent inappropriate use or duplication
  • Monitor inpatient hospitalizations and facilitate timely release as clinically appropriate
  • Closely monitor potential catastrophic illnesses
  • Prepare and maintain comprehensive records, reports, and logs, and audit medical files for documentation
  • Recommend methods to improve operational efficiency and cost effectiveness of health services
  • Engage with outside hospital and agency administrators to foster effective collaboration
  • Facilitate accreditation efforts for the medical program as applicable
  • Accept on-call status and attend required seminars, workshops, and conferences
  • Provide health counseling and education individually or in groups
  • Communicate responsibilities and accountability to subordinates, and conduct staff meetings to promote effective communication
  • Maintain absolute security and confidentiality of all medical records
  • Additional Information
