Job Duties

To enhance the correctional programs of the Commonwealth of Virginia by operating a viable business entity that provides jobs and work skills for sentenced inmates to help them successfully re-enter society, and offers quality goods and services to our customers, on time and at a fair price. To provide management for the production of metal furniture, office systems, and seating, and the leadership of staff to positively impact customer satisfaction and to achieve plant and industry objectives for profitability, quality products, inmates' development, and accurate and complete orders delivered on time. If hired by VCE you will start or restart a 12-month probationary period. This is for all New Hires', Transfers, returning State Employees.

Minimum Qualifications

Ability to effectively manage and motivate a diverse team in the production and quality of manufactured goods under the pressure of tight deadlines. Ability to effectively communicate with others to achieve production goals. Knowledge of manufacturing processes and ability to work independently to motivate others attain production goals. Proficiency with Microsoft Office products. Ability to make technical recommendations, develop job specifications and quality standards. Ability to work independently in complex work situations and under the pressure of tight deadlines and manage safe work practices.

Additional Considerations

Considerable experience and proficiency in apparel processes, equipment operation, and quality controls. Proficiency with MRP / ERP system or other manufacturing specialty applications. Certification in Total Quality Management, Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other quality program certification.
