The range listed reflects the entire range and typical placement is entry to mid range.
Pay Range : $97,152.24-$132,840.72 Annual
Application Systems Administrator
Position Purpose
Ensure the efficient functioning, maintenance, security, and enhancement of business applications essential for the City's operations.
Essential Job Functions
- Evaluates new software applications, reviews software updates, identifies and implements those that merit action.
- Ensures that the applications are configured to meet service objectives.
- Plans the installation and testing of new application versions.
- Investigates and coordinates the resolution of potential and actual service problems.
- Ensures that operational documentation for each application is fit for purpose and current.
- Drafts and maintains procedures and documentation for applications support.
- Advises on application security, licensing, upgrades, backups, and disaster recovery needs.
- Ensures that all requests for support are dealt with according to set standards and procedures.
- Shares responsibilities for ensuring optimal database performance and user access with Database Administrator.
- Ensures that appropriate action is taken to anticipate, investigate and resolve problems in systems and services.
- Ensures that problems and solutions are fully documented within the relevant reporting system(s).
- Coordinates the implementation of preventative measures by analyzing patterns and trends.
- Takes responsibility for understanding client requirements, collecting data, delivering analysis and problem resolution.
- Collaborates with and facilitates stakeholder groups.
- Develop and support integrations with other applications using appropriate tools.
- Actively monitors for, and seeks, opportunities, new methods, trends, and capabilities and products for the advancement of the organization.
- Follow agreed procedures, identifies, and registers and categorizes incidents.
- Travels to and attends team and organizational meetings, training, events and activities and appropriately and professionally represents the department.
Other Job Functions
May require occasional non-traditional work hours, "on-call" status and / or 24 / 7 responsiveness.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Education Degree
Bachelors Degree (BA, BS, BBA)
Education Major
Information Systems, Technology or related field.
Education Required
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Work Experience Related
Five (5) years of experience administrating business systems with relational databases.
Other Qualifications
Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) certification is a job requirement for employees within the Information Technology Department.
Physical Demands
Minimal physical effort typically found in clerical work. Primarily sedentary, may occasionally lift and carry light objects. Walking and / or standing as needed and minimal.
Hazards
Minimal exposure to hazards are typically found in general office environment where there is rarely to no exposure to injury or accident
Work Environment
Regular exposure to heat and noise along with working outside in the elements

The City of Arvada does not offer benefits to temporary and / or seasonal employees. Temporary, Variable Hour and Health Plan Eligible employees will earn 1 hour of sick leave for every 30 hours worked, up to a maximum cap of 48 hours.
