About the Role

The HVAC Apprentice and Parts Coordinator is an entry-level position responsible for supporting Service operations, parts and material delivery, and HVAC and plumbing field activities. This role ensures the efficient handling, storage, organization, and distribution of materials, tools, parts, and equipment while providing general labor and apprentice-level assistance to experienced HVAC and Plumbing Technicians.

The position serves as a liaison between the office and field service teams by ensuring technicians receive the correct parts, materials, tools, and equipment needed to complete their work efficiently. The HVAC Apprentice and Parts Coordinator will also gain hands-on field experience assisting with HVAC and plumbing repairs, preventive maintenance, installations, and other service activities.

This position is designed for individuals seeking to develop a career in the HVAC and/or plumbing trades while contributing to efficient warehouse and Service Department operations.

What You’ll Be Responsible For

Material Handling: Receive, store, organize, and distribute materials, HVAC and plumbing parts, tools, equipment, and supplies efficiently.Parts Delivery: Pick up and deliver HVAC and plumbing parts, materials, tools, and equipment between the warehouse, suppliers, company facilities, customer locations, and job sites.Field Parts Support: Respond to parts and material requests from field technicians and assist in ensuring technicians receive the correct items in a timely manner to minimize downtime.Parts Verification: Verify parts, quantities, purchase orders, packing slips, and material requests before materials are issued or delivered.Shipping & Receiving: Assist with loading and unloading deliveries, inspecting shipments, verifying quantities, and ensuring materials are properly received and stored.Inventory Management: Maintain accurate records of incoming and outgoing materials and assist with routine inventory counts, stock checks, and replenishment.Parts Organization: Maintain a clean, safe, and organized warehouse to promote efficient workflow and ensure materials, parts, tools, and equipment are readily accessible.Material & Equipment Transportation: Safely transport tools, materials, HVAC and plumbing components, and equipment using company vehicles as authorized.HVAC Field Assistance: Assist experienced HVAC Technicians with repairs, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting activities, equipment installations, replacements, and other assigned field tasks.Plumbing Field Assistance: Assist experienced Plumbing Technicians with repairs, preventive maintenance, installations, replacements, material preparation, and other assigned plumbing activities.Apprentice Support: Provide general labor and apprentice-level assistance to HVAC and Plumbing Technicians while learning proper trade practices, terminology, tools, materials, and procedures.Job Preparation: Assist technicians with loading vehicles, staging materials, gathering tools and equipment, and preparing parts and supplies for scheduled service calls and projects.Equipment Operation: Safely operate approved warehouse equipment, including forklifts, pallet jacks, carts, and other material-handling equipment when properly trained and authorized.Tool & Equipment Handling: Learn the proper use, care, storage, and handling of hand tools, power tools, HVAC and plumbing equipment, and company property.Quality Control: Inspect materials, equipment, parts, and components for visible damage, defects, or discrepancies before storage, distribution, or delivery.Job-Site & Parts Clean-Up: Maintain clean and orderly work areas and assist with removing, disposing of, recycling, or returning discarded materials, equipment, parts, and debris to the appropriate location.Parts & Equipment Returns: Assist with returning unused, defective, warranty, or replacement parts and equipment from job sites to the warehouse or appropriate supplier.Safety Compliance: Follow OSHA requirements, company safety policies, driving requirements, job-site procedures, and proper PPE requirements at all times.Collaboration: Work effectively with the Director of Service, HVAC Technicians, Plumbing Technicians, Service Managers, suppliers, and other company personnel to fulfill operational and material needs.Documentation & Reporting: Accurately document deliveries, pickups, shipments, inventory activity, material movement, returns, and other warehouse or field activities as required.Learning & Development: Demonstrate a willingness to learn HVAC and plumbing systems, equipment, terminology, installation practices, preventive maintenance procedures, and service techniques through hands-on training and direction from experienced team members.Process Improvement: Identify and communicate opportunities to improve warehouse organization, parts delivery, inventory control, field support, safety, and overall Service Department efficiency.Additional Responsibilities: Perform other warehouse, delivery, shop, HVAC, plumbing, and field-support duties as assigned based on business and Service Department needs.

What You Need

Education & Certifications:High school diploma or equivalent preferred; no formal post-secondary education required.Must possess basic math, reading, and writing skills.OSHA 10 Certification must be obtained prior to performing job-site work.EPA Section 608 Certification must be obtained within the first year of employment if performing applicable HVAC work.Forklift certification is preferred or must be obtained if required for assigned responsibilities.Must possess a valid driver's license and maintain a driving record acceptable under company requirements.Experience:Previous HVAC or plumbing experience is not required.Previous warehouse, delivery, construction, mechanical, material-handling, or general labor experience is preferred but not required.This position is designed to provide hands-on, on-the-job training for individuals beginning a career in the HVAC and/or plumbing trades.Technical Skills:Basic familiarity with hand tools and a willingness to learn the safe operation of power tools and trade-specific equipment.Ability to learn warehouse equipment operation, including forklifts and pallet jacks.Ability to learn shipping, receiving, inventory control, parts identification, and material-handling procedures.Ability to learn inventory tracking software and warehouse management systems as required.Ability and willingness to develop a working knowledge of HVAC and plumbing equipment, components, materials, tools, and basic service and installation procedures.Ability to safely operate company vehicles for parts pickups, deliveries, and field-support activities.

Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 lbs. regularly, with assistance or material-handling equipment used for heavier items as appropriate.Frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, reaching, climbing, and handling tools and materials.Ability to safely load and unload parts, tools, equipment, and materials from company vehicles.Ability to safely operate warehouse and material-handling equipment when properly trained and authorized.Ability to perform physical labor for extended periods in warehouse and field environments.Ability to work from ladders or elevated work areas when properly trained and required by the assignment.Work Environment:Work is performed in a combination of warehouse, shop, supplier, commercial/industrial job-site, and service environments.Exposure to dust, noise, construction activities, mechanical equipment, and varying indoor and outdoor temperature conditions.Work may occur around operating HVAC, plumbing, and mechanical equipment and active construction areas.Required use of personal protective equipment (PPE) in accordance with company policies and job-site requirements.Must comply with all applicable company, customer, and OSHA safety requirements.Travel Requirements:Regular local travel is required for parts pickups and deliveries, material transportation, and field assistance.Travel may include company facilities, warehouses, suppliers, customer locations, and project job sites.Must be able to operate company vehicles when authorized and maintain compliance with company vehicle and driving policies.
