ABOUT THE ROLE
The Database Administrator is responsible for managing all Microsoft SQL databases, related architecture, and supporting infrastructure across Golden State Foods. This includes monitoring, tuning, securing, designing, testing, installing, and optimizing both on‑premise SQL Server environments and SQL‑as‑a‑Service platforms such as AWS RDS and Azure SQL Database.
This role provides critical support to highly visible, business‑critical applications and collaborates closely with software vendors, internal application teams, and enterprise architecture.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Monitor, optimize, and tune high‑transaction SQL Server environments to support business‑critical applications.
- Collaborate with software vendors and internal application teams to identify and resolve query performance issues.
- Configure, maintain, and administer SQL Server instances, Always On availability groups, and database security standards.
- Develop, maintain, and document logical and physical database designs, including data dictionaries, schemas, and ER structures.
- Ensure database integrity, availability, backups, disaster recovery readiness, and security controls.
- Support ETL processes and BI tools that feed enterprise information systems.
- Translate business requirements into technical data requirements and support database‑related project work.
- Provide mentoring, cross‑team coordination, and knowledge transfer to strengthen team capability and best practices.
WHAT YOU’LL NEED
- 6+ years hands‑on experience implementing and maintaining Microsoft SQL Server clusters.
- 4+ years implementing and supporting SQL Always On (2016/2019).
- Experience with RedGate SQL Monitoring, Ola Hallengren maintenance scripts, and Brent Ozar SQL optimization tools.
- Experience with Azure SQL Database administration.
- Strong SQL query tuning, performance optimization, and database troubleshooting skills.
- Working knowledge of ETL tools, BI systems, and data warehousing (Redshift preferred).
- Ability to interpret and translate business requirements into technical solutions.
- Strong understanding of database security, encryption, access models, and backup/recovery strategies.
Education & Certifications
- Four‑year degree preferred, or equivalent hands‑on professional experience.
SCHEDULE & SETTING
Hybrid: 3 days in office / 2 days remote
Travel: No travel required
Role Type: Individual Contributor
Team Interaction: Manages relationships with application teams to triage issues and coordinate technical optimizations.
PAY& BENEFITS
Pay Range (Base Pay): $118,000 - $147,000
Other Compensation: May include shift differentials, overtime pay, bonuses, or other incentive pay as applicable to the position and location.
