Paralegal Coordinator (International Trade)

The Paralegal Coordinator (International Trade) is responsible for coordinating teams on large filings, assisting with day-to-day questions and quality control checks, and performing more complex paralegal work. The Paralegal Coordinator will collaborate with the Paralegal Manager (International Trade) on identifying training and development needs. This role is critical in ensuring the day-to-day work of the practice is performed efficiently and to uniform high standards.

This position is eligible to participate in the firm's flexible work program.

RESPONSIBILITIES / ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :

Works with attorneys and other practice Legal Support staff on client-billable projects including, but not limited to, research; cite-checking and / or filing of legal briefs and memoranda (primarily large / complex filings and overflow support); preparation of forms, applications, exhibits, and appendices; and hearing / conference preparation and support

Review routine work product, answer Project Assistant questions, and provide feedback and guidance on :

Document formatting and preparation, primarily using MS Word and Acrobat Professional

Cite-checking / formatting

APO compliance, including third-party checks of BPI filings

Docket / file management

Project pacing and deadline compliance

Filing requirements and e-filing submission at the Department of Commerce (DOC / ACCESS), International Trade Commission (ITC / EDIS), Court of International Trade (CIT / PACER), the Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit (CAFC / PACER NextGen), and other jurisdictions relevant to the practice (CBP / EAPA, NAFTA / USMCA)

Meet regularly with paralegal manager to assess training needs, individual development of Project Assistant team, and planning for large / complex briefs and projects

Diligently adhere to administrative protective order (APO) requirements, ensure proper redactions of business proprietary information (BPI), and follow internal protocols for safe handling of documents

Maintains current knowledge of cite-checking and filing requirements at Department of Commerce, International Trade Commission, Court of International Trade, and Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit

Regularly interact directly in a professional manner with practice members and develop strong working relationships

Meets the Firm's minimum hours expectations of 1700 total chargeable hours annually of which 850 should be client-billable; chargeable hours comprise of client-billable, business development, pro bono, professional development, and supervisory time.

Other duties as may be assigned by attorneys, Paralegal Manager, and / or Director of Practice Support

Meet the department's expectations to retrieve, read and / or respond to firm and client-related e-mail messages during and outside of core business and scheduled work hours by connecting a personal mobile device (smartphone or tablet with a data plan) to the firm's network KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES :

Excellent organizational skills, communication, and interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships at various levels

Proficiency working with subject-matter experts to identify key skill requirements and design training appropriate to skill-level of audience

Ability to manage multiple requests, assess priorities, and achieve solutions under tight deadlines

Expert-level proficiency with office productivity technologies and advanced capability with MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and Adobe Acrobat; aptitude for learning software solutions and other technologies

Demonstration of exceptional attention to detail and accuracy

Possession of or ability to develop strong familiarity with cite-checking, Bluebooking, and court (CIT and CAFC) and agency (DOC / ITA, ITC, CBP / EAPA) rules and procedures as well as APO compliance standards

Maintenance of strict confidentiality of work-related information and materials and compliance with administrative and judicial protective orders

Flexibility and willingness to respond to issues during and outside of core business hours EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE :

Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience required; paralegal, training, or trade remedies experience a plus

Minimum two (2) plus years of training and development experience, preferably in the law firm environment, with progressing levels of responsibility throughout career

Demonstrated self-starter who shows ownership and commitment to perform responsibilities with high professional standards WORK ENVIRONMENT :

Position operates in a professional office environment which is usually quiet to moderate

Position routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets

Position requires that the employee be able to multi-task in a fast-paced work environment

PHYSICAL DEMANDS :

This position is primarily a sedentary position. However, some duties and responsibilities may require the employee to lift files, open filing cabinets, bend or stand, reach with arms and hands, climb or balance, occasionally move about to access office equipment, file cabinets, etc.

May require employee to carry or lift items weighing up to 10 pounds

The base salary for this position is expected to be between $120,000 to $124,000 annually. Actual salary will be determined based on skills, experience (to the extent relevant) and other job-related factors, consistent with applicable law.
