Summary of Job Duties :

This posting will be used to fill multiple positions

The Patient Care Technician (PCT) performs patient care tasks and duties which do not require a license. The PCT is a trained member of the unit based team who supports the on-going delivery of care as identified by the multidisciplinary patient management team in H9 Nephrology / Surgical Specialties.

H9 Nephrology / Surgical Specialties is a 30 bed medical / surgical adult inpatient unit serving general medical and surgical patients from adolescent age to geriatrics. The unit specializes in the care of the adult renal and liver failure patients, solid organ transplant patients, hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis patients, general surgery patients, colorectal and urology patients.

The Patient Care Technician (PCT) works under the direct supervision of the Registered Nurse(s) and performs tasks and duties which do not require a license, professional judgment or intervention. The PCT must pass the required competencies. The PCT works within the Department of Nursing standards. The PCT adheres to UAMS clinical programs, policies, procedures and standards and guest care guidelines.

May perform other duties as assigned.

All new Patient Care Technicians are required to complete 5 weeks of training Monday - Friday 8 : 00AM - 5 : 00PM after being hired.

Employees in this role must be fitted for, capable of donning and performing routine tasks in personal protective equipment to include N95 masks, Powered Air Purifying Respirators (PAPR) or Controlled Air Purifying Respirators (CAPR).
