year of business. Our home office is in Atlanta with regional offices in Long Beach, San Antonio, and Portland.

Retail construction is our bread and butter (includes site work, ground up store / facility construction, tenant improvements and open store remodels). It’s where Fulcrum got started. Everything from $100,000 remodels to $40 million ground up projects and everything in between. Most projects are in the $1 million to $15 million range with a 10-50 week duration.

What are we looking for in a Chief Estimator?

5+ years related experience and / or training with a Commercial General Contractor preferred.

A degree in construction management or engineering is preferred but not required.

We believe that a can-do attitude, the ability to learn quickly, and a passion for construction can more than make up for a lack of specific experience or a construction degree.

Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite 365 (Word, Excel, Outlook and Project software) is a must. Bluebeam and PlanGrid experience are a big plus.

Attention to detail; everything from the estimates, units costs, bid scope sheets and proposals must be accurate

Position Overview

The Chief Estimator manages the entire estimating and bid process. He or she is responsible for reviewing and making recommendations to Senior Management on all bid opportunities, reviewing solicited trade proposals, and the development and delivery of complete proposals / budgets to suit our client’s needs with the help of others on the estimating team.

Essential Functions

• Manage the bid process with other members of the estimating team.
• Review all bid opportunities and RFP’s with management.
• Provide estimating assistant information for bid submission and any other preconstruction requirements to submit complete proposals to our clients.
• Responsible for development of bids from start to finish including subcontractor solicitation, review of subcontractor coverage, project scope, plan review, and selection of vendors with others on the estimating team.
• Provide budgets and conceptual estimates to clients.
• Provide critical path-method schedules to clients.
• Ensure general contractor and subcontractors are in receipt of the latest bid documents during the bid process.
• Submit all RFIs in a timely fashion and distribute to all relevant subcontractors during the bid process.
• Attend pre-bid site visits with owners as well as subcontractors.
• Respond to Customer / Client questions / clarifications / feedback associated with the proposal / bid.
• Review all subcontractor bids and evaluate overall quote scope, ability of company to complete project, and company financial viability.
• Ensure all quantity takeoffs are complete.
• Complete all bid forms and other associated documents for bid submission.
• Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Can you juggle?

You’ll be expected to create estimates for multiple projects at one time. You’ll need to be very good at prioritizing and managing your time. Maintaining your cool under pressure, staying fluid and being flexible are desirable attributes.
