Position Summary
The Accounting Manager oversees day-to-day accounting operations, manages one Accounting Clerk, and ensures the accuracy and integrity of all financial data. The incoming Accounting Manager will have the opportunity to train alongside the retiring
manager to ensure a seamless transition. This position offers the opportunity for professional growth into a Senior Accounting Manager or VP of Finance role as the company continues to grow.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee all accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger.
- Manage construction accounting processes, including WIP schedules, job costing, and percentage-of-completion reporting.
- Prepare monthly financial statements and support leadership with timely financial analysis and project profitability reports.
- Supervise and mentor the Accounting Clerk, ensuring efficient and accurate workflow.
- Manage banking relationships and cash flow.
- Coordinate with HR on payroll and benefits administration via Paychex or similar HR platform.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, GAAP standards, and relevant tax regulations.
- Collaborate with project managers on billing, cost tracking, and job progress reporting.
- Maintain accurate documentation for audits, lien waivers, and project billings.
- Participate in annual budgeting and forecasting.
- Support system and process improvements as the company scales.
Qualifications
Must-Haves :
Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (experience may substitute for degree)Minimum 5 years of accounting experience, with at least 3 years in construction accountingProven experience with WIP schedules, job costing, and percentage-of-completion accountingQuickBooks Online (QBO) proficiencyManagerial or supervisory experience must be comfortable leading a small teamExperience with progressive project billing and lien waiversBenefits & Perks
