Assistive Technology Professional

Lifesteps is hiring a full-time Assistive Technology Professional to provide assessments for individuals with disabilities who may benefit from the use of low to high level Assistive Technology devices. Services are provided throughout Western Pennsylvania. The position is based in Butler, Pennsylvania.

Position Summary :

Assistive Technology Professional conducts assessments and / or consultations with special needs individuals or organizations under the direction of the Director.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS - JOB SPECIFIC :

  • Measure performance / effectiveness of program technologies, services and support activities
  • Conduct Assistive Technology assessments for authorized billable clients
  • Document processes related to Assistive Technology
  • Promote safe, productive and independent opportunities for Program participants using AT
  • Fulfill a variety of duties that include, but are not limited to administration, training, technical support, information and referral activities related to access, use, and public awareness
  • Demonstrate the use of Assistive Technology hardware / software
  • Ensure compliance with Organizational policies and procedures
  • Maintains inventory of Assistive Technology devices / components

Position Requirements :

Required :

  • Currently certified as an Assistive Technology Professional by the Rehabilitation Engineering and Assistive Technology Society of North America (RESNA) OR Enabling Technology Integration Specialist (SHIFT) OR able to obtain the RESNA or SHIFT certification within 3 months of hire.
  • Prior experience in assessing, recommending, and customizing assistive technology solutions for individuals with disabilities or medical conditions
  • Strong technical aptitude and familiarity with a wide range of assistive technology devices and software
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to interact with clients, families, and interdisciplinary teams
  • Problem-solving mindset with the ability to adapt solutions to meet individual needs
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Current driver's license and the ability to travel for business utilizing personal vehicle
  • Preferred :

  • Bachelor's Degree or higher in Rehabilitative Sciences and Technology, Speech and Language Pathology & Audiology, Education, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy or related field
