About The Position

Must-Have :

Strong neuro experience is a plus.

Floating between various like units is required.

Weekend work is required.

Description :

The role involves providing comprehensive nursing care to neuro ICU patients.

Candidates will manage high acuity neuro patients, as well as general ICU patients.

The unit handles conditions such as sepsis, respiratory failure, DKA, gastrointestinal bleeding, and COVID-19.

Nurses will utilize ventilators, external ventricular drains, pacemakers, and perform thermoregulation and CRRT.

The nurse-to-patient ratio is typically 1 : 2, with potential for 1 : 4 for downgraded patients transferred to a different unit.

Nurses will be required to demonstrate competencies in arterial line management, CPAP / BiPAP care, and the management of ventilated patients.

Candidates should be able to perform ICP monitoring, interpret arterial blood gases, and manage patients with multisystem organ dysfunction or failure.

Post-craniotomy and post-neurosurgery management skills will be required.

Nurses will also need to use cardiac and vasoactive drips titration effectively.

The environment emphasizes interdisciplinary support with teams such as respiratory services, physical therapy, and pharmacy.

All sensitive onboarding items must be completed within a designated timeframe prior to the start date.

Compliance with all requirements and responsibilities is mandatory for successful placement.
