Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled and dependable Building Engineer to oversee and manage the mechanical, electrical, HVAC, and general building systems in our Los Angeles facility. The ideal candidate will proactively ensure that the building is safe, comfortable, efficient, and address issues as they arise and implement preventive maintenance programs. This role is critical in supporting and ensuring seamless daily operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate, maintain, inspect, and repair HVAC, refrigeration, chilled / hot water, boiler, air distribution, and ventilation systems.
- Monitor and optimize building automation and control systems for peak performance and energy efficiency.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical failures and building system issues promptly.
- Perform preventive and predictive maintenance on all major systems and equipment, maintaining accurate records.
- Respond to service requests and emergencies (e.g., HVAC failure, leaks, or power issues)
- Inspect and maintain lighting, plumbing, power distribution, rooftop equipment, and other building infrastructure.
- Coordinate and oversee contractors and vendors for specialized maintenance, repairs, or upgrades.
- Work with general contractors and vendors on large-scale repair and maintenance projects to ensure project scope, milestones, and expenses meet expectations.
- Be available to address after-hours emergency matters.
- Secure vendor estimates / bids, schedule work, and track progress of all maintenance and repair items.
- Maintain an organized inventory of parts, tools, and supplies.
- Ensure compliance with applicable codes, regulations, safety, and environmental standards.
- Recommend and implement improvements for energy efficiency, sustainability, and operational excellence.
Qualifications & Skills
3–5 years of experience in building service engineering, facilities maintenance, or a related trade (commercial building experience preferred).Solid technical knowledge of HVAC, electrical, mechanical, and plumbing systems.Experience with building automation systems and related control systems.Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing building mechanical / electrical issues.Ability to read and interpret mechanical / electrical drawings and schematics.Working knowledge of local building codes, safety, and environmental regulations.Strong problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and ability to work independently.Effective communication and collaboration skills with staff and vendors.Valid California driver’s license required.Preferred : trade certifications such as HVAC license, EPA 608, or refrigeration certification.Preferred : experience in energy management, sustainability, or large commercial facility operations.Compensation
$75,000 to $95,000 Salary
