General Statement of Duties

Responsible for obtaining designated supplies, equipment and materials necessary for the operation of the Construction and Maintenance Department, processing after hours facility use requests, and verifying overtime transactions for the department.

Essential Duties

  • Maintains file of applicable regulations, policies, procedures and contracts
  • Compiles current list of potential vendors and supply sources
  • Obtains competitive pricing and availability data from suppliers
  • Researches data on the availability, quality, price, etc., pertaining to new items on the market
  • Coordinates purchasing matters with vendors, Henrico County Purchasing representatives and customers
  • Assists C&M personnel with acquiring goods and services in compliance with County purchasing guidelines
  • Evaluates bids for compliance with specifications and terms
  • Generates purchase documentation in compliance with departmental procedures
  • Processes requests for Purchase Authorization Forms, Open Purchase Orders, etc.
  • Processes after hours facility use requests including monitoring payments and depositing funds
  • Verifies and reconciles overtime transactions for the department
  • Attends work daily, engaged and on-task
  • Performs other duties, as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

Graduation from high school and five years' experience in procurement of equipment and materials in the construction / maintenance, custodial, and office supply areas. Must have extensive knowledge of county and state procurement policies and procedures and considerable knowledge of the administrative and financial documents and records required to support fiscal and inventory control systems. Knowledge of the materials and equipment stocked or used in the school system, inventory control procedures, methods of purchasing goods, and local sources of supply for materials, equipment and supplies is also required; or any equivalent combination of experience and training which would provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Computer skills including word processing, spreadsheets, etc. required.

Additional Information

This position is for 12 months, 8 hour per day. Minimum salary is $51,899.10 or based on promotion policy for internal candidates.
