Department : Main Pre-op / PACU

About The Department

The Main OR PreOp / PACU is a 38-bay (20 PreOp, 18 PACU) department at Trinity Health Ann Arbor’s Level 1 Trauma Center, with 20 operating rooms that average 50 cases / day. Our mission is to provide the highest-quality care to every patient who requires a surgical intervention; both during preparation for surgery and recovery from anesthesia. We care for both inpatients and outpatients for the following types of elective / urgent / emergent service lines : Acute Care Surgery, Colorectal, General Surgery, Cardio-Thoracic, Orthopedics, Endocrinology, Neurosurgery, Urology, Gynecology, Oncology, and Vascular; as well as off-shift Endoscopy. Our nursing staff is supported 24 / 7 by department-based Anesthesiologists. We have the distinction of being a Certified Joint Center of Excellence as well as a Robotic Center of Excellence.

Shifts Available : Varied shifts

Certifications we offer - Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), Trauma Care After Resuscitation (TCAR), and Certified Perianesthesia Nurse (CPAN)

Required Education And Licensure

• Graduation from accredited nursing program.
• All new hires must have a BSN degree or must agree in writing to obtain their BSN within five (5) years from date of hire or transfer to an RN role.
• Current Michigan Nursing License
• BLS

Required Skills And Abilities

Knowledge of nursing theory, practice and age specific needs Interpersonal skills necessary to initiate and maintain collegial relationships with coworkers and therapeutic relationships with patients and families. Critical thinking skills necessary to perform principal duties and responsibilities of job description. Ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail when planning and performing professional nursing care.
