Description :

The role involves providing care in the Mother Baby Unit.

The shift is 3x12 nights from 19 : 00 to 07 : 30.

The contract length is 13 weeks.

Nursing staff may float if they have labor skills.

There is no on-call requirement.

The Mother Baby Unit provides postpartum, antepartum, and gynecological care to high-risk populations.

Well newborn care is part of the rooming-in service provided.

Staffing ratios are maintained as required.

The unit maintains a ratio of 1 : 3 for stable normal couplets and 1 : 2 for couplets with complications.

Preferred certifications include Client Newborn Certification and Inpatient Obstetric Certification.

International Board of Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) is also preferred.

The daily census typically includes 22 patients with a maximum capacity of 27 beds.

Common patient diagnoses include high-risk antepartum patients and gynecological overflow.

The nurse will be involved in teaching parents discharge instructions and care for their newborns.

Skills required include administration of medications, newborn assessments, and assisting with circumcisions.

Familiarity with high-risk pregnancies and related medical interventions such as magnesium sulfate therapy is essential.

The unit is high-paced and demands strong clinical skills due to the complexity of patient needs.
