Indiana School for the Blind & Visually Impaired (ISBVI):
The School is nationally and internationally recognized for its excellence and best practices in educating children and young adults who are blind or have low vision. The School is a critical resource for Indiana’s children who are blind or have low vision and the teachers, parents, and caregivers who work with them. Every year, we educate hundreds of children and young adults ranging from 3 to 22 years old and living in all parts of Indiana, many of whom, due to severe or multiple disabilities, other schools in the state have difficulty serving or cannot serve.
Role Overview:
The Clerical Assistant provides essential clerical and administrative support to ensure smooth daily office operations. Responsibilities include answering and directing phone calls, organizing and maintaining records and files, performing basic bookkeeping, preparing documents through typing and data entry, and operating standard office equipment. All tasks are performed in accordance with established office procedures.
Braille is not required for this role.
Salary:
The salary for this position traditionally starts at $27,638 ($14.17 per hour) but may be commensurate with education or work experience.

A Day in the Life:
Responsibilities include:
- Support the daily operations of an organization by performing general office tasks.
- Greet visitors and direct them to the appropriate person according to their needs.
- Answer telephones and gives information to callers, take messages, or transfers calls to appropriate individuals.
- Open, sort, and route incoming mail and correspondence. Prepare outgoing mail.
- Operate office machines, such as photocopiers and scanners, facsimile machines, voice mail systems, and personal computers.
- Accurately maintain and organize office files.
- Deliver messages and run errands.
- Maintain inventory, orders, and distributes supplies.
- Complete tasks or projects assigned by supervisor in a timely manner.

What You'll Need for Success:

- Ability to provide effective and professional customer service to internal and external parties.
- Ability to perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
A degree is not required. However, a High School Diploma or High School Equivalent (HSE) is required.
Supervisory Responsibilities/Direct Reports:
This role may provide direct supervision for one or more staff members.
