General Description:
The API Inspector position is responsible for performing API Inspections for the KAM Projects Department in the State of Alaska. This Individuals would be responsible for performing work safely, providing final inspection results, and generating inspection reports for clients. This position would be project based and considered full time employment. Relocation package may be considered.
This position will be responsible for driving Kakivik's Mission, Vision, and Values, a crucial part of the strategic plan to drive success. - Ensure a safe work environment.
- Demonstrate and ensure an overall commitment to safety.
- An NDT Level II individual shall be qualified to set up and calibrate equipment for task at hand.
- Interpret and evaluate results with respect to applicable codes, standards, specifications, procedures and customer’s specific requests.
- Properly perform specific calibrations, specific NDE, and specific evaluations for acceptance or rejection determinations according to written instructions and to record accurate results.
- As required by various jobs and clients:
- Read isometric drawings.
- Execute safety and permitting requirements.
- Perform routine maintenance and repair equipment.
- Operate vehicles and equipment (With certification or license).
- Responsible for proper transportation, control, and disposal of hazardous materials in technician’s control.
- Direct, instruct, and be a positive role model to the trainee or Level I that is accompanying them on the job.
- Other Duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Able to work in a team environment and independently.
- Ability to travel within Alaska and the Lower 48.
- Skilled with computer software including MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Access).

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works at the project site. The employee may be exposed to moving mechanical parts; high precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; outside weather conditions and risk of electrical shock. The noise in these work environments is usually moderate to very loud. Position may be working with potentially hazardous materials and wastes.
Physical Requirements:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. A pre-hire post offer Functional Capacity Evaluation (FCE) will be conducted to determine an employee’s ability to perform to the job standard. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
- MOBILITY: Must be able to access all controls and all parts of machinery for service. Must be able to push/pull 50 pounds for 20 feet.
- HEARING: Must be able to hear audible safety alarms.
- VISUAL ACUITY: Must be adequate to perform above listed tasks in a safe manner and take hand signals from ground man or flag man.
- LIFTING: Must be able to routinely lift up to 70 pounds from floor to waist, 50 pounds from waist level to shoulder height and carry 70 pounds for 20 feet.
- RANGE OF MOTION: An objective range of motion measurement will be conducted and recorded using a five position and rapid exchange grip strength test during the pre-hire/post offer FCE.

Requirements
Required Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED is required.
- Valid driver’s license is required.
- Ultrasonic Testing (UT) Level II specific to Straight beam inspections in accordance with ASME, API and AWS standards is required.
- API 653 Certification/API 570 is required.
- ASNT Level II certification is required.
- IRRSP or State issued Radiographers card is required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Radiographic Testing (RT) Level II specific to code inspection in accordance with ASME, API and AWS standards. Must have a minimum two years’ experience interpreting code film is preferred.
- Computed Radiographic Testing (CR) Level II specific to code inspection in accordance with ASME, API and AWS standards. Must have a minimum two years’ experience interpreting CR images is preferred .
- Ultrasonic Testing (UT) Level II specific to Angle Beam (Shearwave) inspections of welds in accordance with ASME, API and AWS standards.
- Magnetic Particle (MT) Level II specific to Yoke techniques using both wet/dry & visible/fluorescent mediums is preferred.
- Liquid Penetrant (PT) Level II specific to visible/water wash techniques is preferred.
