Accounting Specialist
We are looking for a detail-oriented Accounting Specialist to join our team on a contract basis in Portland, Oregon. In this role, you will handle a variety of payment processing and accounting tasks, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in financial transactions. This opportunity is hybrid and requires the candidate to work onsite two days per week.
Responsibilities
- Review and process customer payment files, ensuring accuracy and timely completion.
- Investigate and resolve discrepancies in payments and account balances.
- Verify and research customer payments using online portals and other resources.
- Respond to inquiries related to billing issues and provide solutions with professionalism.
- Input and update data for billing adjustments and account cancellations for both residential and commercial customers.
- Prepare daily cash statements and reconcile cash batches to maintain accurate financial records.
- Process electronic payment exceptions and manage fund transfers between customer accounts.
- Maintain records and documentation for audit purposes, ensuring compliance with company policies.
- Coordinate daily workflow to meet critical deadlines, such as bank deposit submissions.
- Collaborate with team members to address and resolve payment-related issues efficiently.
Requirements
Experience handling sensitive and confidential information with integrity.Exceptional problem-solving, communication, and customer service skills.Ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple responsibilities, and adapt to shifting priorities.Competence in using computer systems to input, access, and retrieve information.Experience with SAP required.Familiarity with payment processing, billing functions, reconciliations, and financial statement preparation.
