About the job
As the Accounting Director at Janie and Jack, you will lead all aspects of accounting and financial reporting, oversee an international team, and ensure robust financial practices that align with the company’s strategic objectives. In this capacity, you’ll bring a deep understanding of managing complex accounting operations in a dynamic, multiband environment. Partnering closely with the executive team of multiple brands, you will shape initiatives that drive sustainable growth and profitability. This role is critical for fostering a culture of innovation, risk management, and strategic project leadership within the accounting function.
What you’ll do
- Financial Management and Reporting
Lead the preparation and consolidation of financial statements, ensuring full compliance with GAAP standards and audit readiness.
Deliver timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting to support strategic decision-making.Apply technical accounting knowledge addressing complex issues such as revenue recognition, cost of goods sold, inventory accounting, and reserves.Oversee the audit process, working closely with external auditors to ensure an efficient review, address any findings, and implement necessary improvements.Accounting Operations & Risk ManagementOversee core accounting operations, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, inventory, and general ledger.
Collaborate with cross functionally to develop inventory control policies, reduce shrinkage, and improve reporting accuracy.Develop wholesale accounting process for multiple brands.Establish and maintain strong relationships with commercial banking partners to ensure optimal management of the company's financial assets.Strengthen internal control policies to further mitigate risk across financial processes.Lead process enhancements for increased efficiency and accuracy across the accounting function.Team Leadership and DevelopmentManage, mentor, and develop a global team of accounting professionals, promoting a culture of continuous improvement and collaboration.
Conduct performance evaluations, provide ongoing feedback, and implement development plans to build a high-performing team.Allocate resources effectively across tasks and projects to optimize productivity.Systems & DataEnsure the integrity and accuracy of financial data across the tech stack including ERP, OMS, PLM.
Champion innovative technologies that improve reporting, streamline workflows, and optimize accounting operations.What you’ll bring
Bachelor’s degree in accounting; CPA preferred.8+ years of progressive accounting leadership; apparel or retail experience preferred.Advanced knowledge of GAAP with expertise in ERP systems such as Dynamics 365 or NetSuite and PLM systems such as DeSL.Proven track record in leading cross-functional strategic projects that drive efficiency and support company growth.3+ years in supervisory roles, with a record of developing teams.Strong analytical skills, with an ability to interpret financial data, identify trends, and make informed decisions.Excellent verbal and written skills for effective engagement with stakeholders.Ability to implement new solutions and adapt to changing financial landscapes.Ability to work independently and prioritize effectively in a dynamic environment.High integrity with a commitment to ethical financial practices and adaptability to evolving financial regulations.Why You’ll Love Working With Us
