Adelphi University seeks nominations and applications for its 11
th
President. Founded in 1896, Adelphi University is Long Island’s oldest private, coeducational institution of higher learning and one of the region’s most dynamic centers of learning and research.

The next president of Adelphi University will serve as the chief executive officer of the University and will lead in partnership with a supportive and engaged board, an accomplished and empowered faculty, and a committed and talented staff. The next president should be called to lead with strategic vision, passion, and optimism and serve as a tireless advocate for the University’s mission and its students, staff, and faculty.
Key priorities for the president will include enhancing the institution’s visibility, reputation, and impact; sustaining sound financial management and bolstering philanthropy; driving strategic enrollment growth; fostering a strong sense of community; and prioritizing social mobility as a continued strategic imperative.
Strong candidates will possess at least 10 years of successful leadership experience in higher education or a comparably complex organization, and they will bring skills to engage and inspire a variety of stakeholders in developing, articulating, and executing a vision for the institution. Exceptional financial acumen, including the ability and willingness to fundraise, and the ability to advocate passionately for the mission and core values of an institution committed to social mobility and student success are key requirements. A terminal degree, along with a record of professional excellence appropriate to lead and engage a vibrant academic community is expected.
Review of applications will begin in fall 2025 and will continue until the position is filled. The expected start date for the next president will be summer 2026. The compensation range for this position is $700,000 – 800,000 with a generous benefits package. Additional benefits include a residence within walking distance of the Garden City campus and a car and driver for official University business.
