Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a high acuity PCU / Oncology Telemetry unit with night shifts and strong infection prevention protocols.
Responsibilities
Work in a PCU medical oncology unit with progressive care and some med surg patients36-bed Oncology Telemetry unit with over 24 dedicated PCU-level bedsNight shifts (3x12 hours), with day / night option availablePatient ratio is 1 : 4-5 for med surg telemetry and 1 : 3 for PCUUnit cares for adult oncology and occasional pediatric patients, though pediatric experience is not requiredSpecialized procedures include continuous bladder irrigation and central line managementEquipment used includes GE telemetry (B450 monitors), Alaris pumps, Stryker beds, PCA pumps, and bladder scannersOrientation includes one week of dayshift and 36 hours of on-unit precepted trainingSelf-scheduling is available for shift preferencesRequired to float to units of equal or lower acuityDuties include progressive care oncology nursing with a strong focus on infection prevention and patient safetyOpportunities for professional growth and participation in self-schedulingFirst week of orientation on days, second week with preceptor supportRTO (requested time off) must be included at the time of contractLocals accepted at the same rateFormer employees may work as a traveler if separated from the facility for at least 6 monthsStrict compliance with Ohio fingerprinting process is required for credentialingComprehensive benefits package availableRequirements
Active OH or compact RN license in hand at the time of considerationBLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications requiredMinimum of high acuity PCU experience requiredOncology experience preferred but not requiredExperience with dysrhythmia interpretation, rapid response, feeding tube care, port and line management, IV starts, blood product administration, and titration of cardiac drips requiredEducation from an ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing program requiredMust provide two professional references, one from a manager or formal leaderMust be eligible to work as a traveler (not a current employee at any Ohio State University hospital location)Previous travel experience is preferredBenefits
