Overview
As a Music Therapist you will be responsible for setting goals on an individual basis and selecting specific activities and exercises to assist in consumer progress. Objectives may include development of communication, cognitive, motor, emotional and social skills. Techniques may include singing, listening, instrumental music, composition, creative movement, guided imagery and other methods as appropriate.

Responsibilities
- Provide written documentation of services and submit documentation in a timely fashion, maintaining a prescribed level of productivity
- Maintain a high degree of professionalism in communications and interactions with individuals, parents, staff and providers
- Make independent decisions when warranted and interact tactfully with clients, families, visitors, government agencies, and the public
- Accept supervision and feedback from leadership and work harmoniously with others
- Stay up to date on the latest trends in therapeutic interventions, treatments, technology, literature, practices, and regulations
- Understand Medicaid and insurance regulations related to therapy
- Play a key role in the therapeutic team and participate in regular team meetings
- Learn and maintain knowledge of tools, audio visuals, and musical instruments
- Learn and apply safety procedures for tools, audio visuals and musical instruments
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Music Therapy OR completion of an approved Music Therapy Equivalency ProgramBoard Certification in Music Therapy (MT-BC) Required6 months of experience in Music TherapyTraining : Complete all assigned training, including IFSSA / DDARS waiver trainingSpecific Requirements : Must be at least 18 years of age, CPR and First Aid certifications, annual TB test or chest x-ray, valid driver’s license and automobile insuranceWhy Join Us?
