Must-Have : Candidates may not be full time, part time, or PRN with any facility associated with the specified health system.
Description :
Department : Emergency Room
Artificial nails are prohibited in all departments providing patient care.
Refusal to remove nails will lead to termination of contract.
RN's must pass a written exam during orientation.
The exam is open book, covering the skills learned during orientation.
Candidates must achieve a 90% score to pass, or they will be terminated.
The facility is a Level I Trauma Center, Pediatric Certified by State, and a Comprehensive Stroke Center.
The Emergency Room features 20 beds, 5 trauma bays, 10 observation beds, and additional hallway beds.
There is a Fast Track area with 6 beds and a separate triage area with 3 triage beds.
Security is in-house 24 / 7 and located within the Emergency Room.
Nurse-to-patient ratios are 1 : 4 in zones, 1 : 6 in Fast Track, 1 : 5 in Observation, and 1 : 1 in ICU / Trauma.
Common diagnoses and patient types include trauma, sepsis, chest pain, shortness of breath, and strokes.
All common infusions seen in Level I trauma emergency rooms are used.
Both emergency department physicians and mid-levels are staffed in the facility.
A charge nurse is present on each shift.
There are nurse aides, EMTs, paramedics, and patient sitters on each shift, with ratios of 1 : 10 in observation and 1 : 20 in the main emergency department.
Tele / monitor techs are present in the emergency room, and registered nurses are required to read and interpret their own strips.
Shifts and scheduling are assigned based on leadership decisions, with various shift times available.
Weekend and holiday requirements vary based on departmental needs.
Floating to other units may be required at least once a week.
The work environment is fast-paced and high acuity.
Requests for time off must be submitted upfront, with limits on additional requests during the contract period.
The facility reserves the right to cancel up to 4 shifts for each 13-week assignment.
The charting system used is Epic.
A Bachelor of Science in Nursing is required for submission.
This position requires working in an acute care setting.
