Job Description\n

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Neuro Telemetry Unit night shift position requiring a VA or compact RN license, acute care background, and NIHSS and BLS certifications.

\n \n Responsibilities\n

  • Work on the Tele Neuro Unit (5W) in a hospital setting
  • 30-bed unit with potential to flex up to 35 beds
  • Adult patients with conditions such as CVA / TIA, peritoneal dialysis, hypertension, diabetes, and various medical-surgical needs
  • Patient ratios typically 1 : 4-5, sometimes up to 6
  • Uses Alaris pumps, LifePak, Hoyer lifts, Kangaroo tube feeding pumps, and PCA pumps
  • Monitor Techs handle and interpret rhythm strips
  • Support staff includes phlebotomy, 1-2 CNAs per shift, and sitters
  • Shift is 12-hour nights with every other weekend and holiday required
  • Floating to other med / surg units may be required
  • Epic EMR use is preferred
  • Responsible for initial and ongoing patient assessment, care planning, treatment implementation, and evaluation of outcomes
  • Will coordinate patient teaching and collaborate with the interdisciplinary care team
  • Acts as a patient safety advocate and coordinates care across hospital departments
  • Candidates are required to wear navy blue, white, or a combination as scrubs
  • Holiday and every other weekend coverage are mandatory
  • First time travelers are not eligible for this position

  • Active RN license in VA or compact state required
  • Minimum 1 year of recent acute care RN experience
  • At least 1 year of travel nursing experience required
  • BLS and NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale) certifications required
  • Must live at least 50 miles from the facility
  • Passing a dysrhythmia (EKG) exam on the first day is required (study guide provided)
  • Epic EMR experience is preferred
